Privacy
The short version: Sharpy never sends your footage anywhere. It runs on your Mac. We collect only what we need to sell you Sharpy and talk to you, we don't sell it, and we don't track you with ads.
Who is responsible
Sameera Samarasighe, trading as Sharpy, in the United Kingdom, is responsible for your data. Contact: hello@sharpy.live.
The Sharpy app
Sharpy watches, listens to and edits your footage on your Mac, with AI models that run on the Mac itself. We don't receive your footage, audio, transcripts or projects, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers.
If you connect your own AI agent, such as Claude or Codex, it sees what you or Sharpy share with it in that conversation, and that provider handles it under its own privacy policy. You choose the agent and what it can reach.
When you ask Sharpy to find music, stock footage or other assets, your search goes to the library you're searching (for example the Internet Archive, Pixabay or Pexels), and those libraries handle it under their own privacy policies.
What we collect
- Early access: your email address, and what you edit if you choose to tell us.
- Contact form and email: your name, email address and what you write to us.
- Subscriptions: your email address, name, country, the plan and price you chose, and your payment and renewal history. Stripe handles your card details; we never see or store your full card number.
- Security: a one-way hash of your IP address when you use a form, used only to stop abuse, and standard server logs kept for a short time.
Why we use it
- To provide your subscription, take payments and handle cancellations and support (to perform our contract with you).
- To send you the early access emails you asked for: a welcome, and news when Sharpy opens (with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To keep the site and payments secure and prevent fraud (our legitimate interests).
- To keep records the law requires, such as tax and accounting records (legal obligation).
We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who helps us
These companies process data for us, only to provide their service:
- Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
- Resend: sending our emails.
- Railway: hosting this website and its database.
- Cloudflare: the domain, security, and routing email sent to @sharpy.live addresses.
- Google (Gmail): the inbox where we read and answer your email.
Some of them are outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where that happens, your data is protected by the UK's approved safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the UK-US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Early access sign-ups: until Sharpy opens and you've had our launch email, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Messages: as long as we need to deal with them, and no longer than two years.
- Subscription and payment records: for as long as you subscribe, then six years for tax and accounting law.
Cookies
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. It remembers whether you turned sound on in your own browser's storage, and nowhere else. Stripe's checkout sets its own cookies to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy of it, or object to or limit how we use it. Email hello@sharpy.live and we'll reply within a month. Some records, such as payment records, we must keep for the law. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Sharpy isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, where it affects you, tell you by email. Our terms cover subscriptions and refunds.
